Microsoft Word 2019 for PC

Word’s primary function is word processing, and it was designed to deliver on that premise ever since the very beginning, and the capabilities have only gotten bigger and better. Word 2019 supplies users with a dozen new tools for publishing purposes that help you format and prepare your documents even more efficiently. There are new, exciting features beyond just word processor capabilities, as this update also focuses on making your work easier to share and gives you the option to work together with other team members, adds enhanced support for digital inking, provides learning tools, a new book-like navigation to immerse you in reading documents, and many settings to improve accessibility for those of lesser abilities.

Sharing and collaborating
You have the ability to save and share files in the cloud, meaning that you can access all of your data which has been uploaded to the cloud anywhere, anytime, as long as you have access to the internet. This also gives you the ability to share your documents using SharePoint or SkyDrive. From that point onwards, you have access to share your Word documents - as well as other Microsoft documents such as Excel spreadsheets and other Office files, - and gives you the ability to work together on the same document with other people at the same time.

These new collaboration tools include easier sharing of your document in various ways. You can select people from a drop-down menu, or alternatively enter a name or email address of the person you want to share your document with and invite them to view or co-edit your work. After sharing your work, co-editors changes show up in real time with their names, making it easy to work in teams.

You can also track and review changes made to a file, and accept these changes manually to ensure no damage has been done to the file. The Simple Markup feature is helpful to track the changes that have been made to your document as time goes by and more people collaborate on the project. It provides a clean, easily understandable view of how different authors contributed to your file.

Commenting is now an easy way to communicate with your co-authors as it includes a reply feature, enabling you to handle a large part of the talking directly within Word without having to leave the application even for a second. You can track your comments closely to the relevant parts of the text in your document. Once the exchange no longer requires further attention and replies, you can mark it as done, keeping it out of the way by turning grey, but not entirely disappearing, in case someone wants to re-visit it later on.

Tools for easier reading
Document viewing options have been expanded, as a side by side view was added into Word 2019, allowing users to flip through documents based in a book-like visual fashion instead of having to scroll up and down continuously. Touchscreen support allows you to turn these pages with your finger, while devices without a touchscreen enabled device can use the horizontal scroll bar or a mouse wheel to achieve the effect.

A new, integrated translator feature enables you to understand documents written in a foreign language with ease, without having to leave Word. Just highlight the text you want to translate and select the tool to choose which language you want to translate to. You also occasionally receive multiple translations for words, which you can review and choose from with provided usage examples in both languages to ensure that your document is as understandable as it can be. You also have the option to translate whole files. When used, a copy of the translated document will open in another window, giving you the option to save both the original content and the translation.

Learning Tools provide ease of access features that make reading documents easier on the eyes. You can adjust the line length with Column Width, and similarly increase the spacing between words, characters and lines with Text Spacing. Change the colour of your pages to ensure text causes less eye strain with Page Colour. The Syllables tool shows breaks between syllables to improve word recognition and pronunciation. Finally, the Read Aloud feature uses text-to-speech technology to read your document up for you, highlighting each word as it goes for you to follow along.

Visual impact
Word 2019 now provides a huge, versatile library of all sorts of visual assets such as icons and 3D images that are fully customizable for your needs to provide appealing visual interest to your files. When inserting 3D models, you have the ability to rotate them and see the models from all angles.

You can easily insert icons and Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) files into your projects. When choosing to insert these icons, you are given access to pick and choose from Microsoft's provided library of professionally made icons in over 25 categories. You can select multiple icons to insert at the same time, and once your icons are in your document you have the ability to edit them in various ways by resizing, rotating, changing colours and applying various other visual effects.

Accessibility improvements
Besides the mentioned new reading features and Learning Tools, Word 2019 also includes a feature to detect accessibility issues in your document and suggest changes in order to ensure that your work is easily readable and editable for people who might have a difficult time understanding it without outside help or have disabilities that restrict them from fully appreciating and perceiving your work. With the Accessibility Checker, you can review these suggestions and implement them into your document in one click.
