"Ever since Microsoft Office existed, (the 1990's) I have faithfully and VOLUNTARILY purchased their upgrades, spent hundreds, well, into several thousand dollars staying on the 'latest greatest' version. But along about 2008, I realized they were no longer adding features that I needed for my simple mail order business and life. So at Office 2010, I quite spending the $100 or whatever for a newer version. I mean, I keep a spreadsheet, customer tickets made with individual spreadsheets, and type a few letters now and again. But Microsoft decided to strong arm me. Warnings if I did not upgrade my 2010 to their 365 version by such and such a date, they will 'no longer' support 2010 version and I would not be able to use it anymore, nor access my files. So I took a serious look at Office 365 and realized that I did NOT want it. I did not want to pay a monthly fee the rest of my life when I already OWNED functional software for my purposes. At this point, I began searching for an alternative and Amazon (one of my favorite sites!) was where I started the search. I did look elsewhere, too, but came back to Amazon and purchased Open Office. It arrived in a couple days. Yesterday, I installed it (easy) and began loading my information from Office 2010 into Open Office. I won't say it was seamless, there were/are a few little things I had to fix in my master log spreadsheet, but nothing horrible. I am VERY HAPPY that I did this! I'm certain that the few things that I have had to tweak are no worse than if I had to setup MS OFFICE 365, set up everything online, etc. That is another thing. With Open Office, I do NOT have to be online to use it." - napitalk

Writing Apps Works Like A Charm
"I bought this for my partner. She was using on her PC the MS Office through a work-license, retired and needed software. Bought this product. She did her first ever software install, with a little guidance, and it was very easy for her to understand and get it installed. Then walked her thru the options like auto correct and such. Test: she gets documents from other church folks, in MS format, that she needs to work on and return. She was able to open/convert a MS doc to the open office format, tweak it and save it. Then opened it up, saved as to an MS .doc format. Emailed the MS doc to a friend who was able to open it in her MS program and work with it. She is soooooo happy! She is looking forward to the spreadsheet and presentation app. When I buy a new PC I plan to use Open Office!" - MusicFan
